Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Leeds, Newcastle, and Southampton are said to be interested—but not at £20M.

According to the rumour mongers today, there’s an awful lot of interest in Liverpool’s 23-year-old Welsh winger Harry Wilson amongst Premier League clubs—but so far at least the club’s £20M asking price has stopped a deal from getting done.

Still, it would seem to bode well for the Reds’ chances if Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Leeds, Newcastle, and Southampton really are all, as claimed by The Mirror, interested in signing the young attacker who spent last season on loan with Bournemouth.

Villa in particular are said to be interested, with claims they’ve even made a £12M opening offer for Wilson, but if it’s true that five Premier League sides want him it’s absolutely the right thing for Liverpool to stick to their valuation of the player.

If true, the worst case scenario is probably seeing a number of them move on to other targets and eventually selling Wilson for around £15M. The best case, of course, is that a few of them get desperate as the deadline nears and one pays up in full.

One would imagine that’s Liverpool’s thinking—that there’s no need to lower their valuation when so many clubs are eyeing up the player and that it’s better to wait to see if one pays up once other potential targets start to come off the board.

Having snapped opened on Monday, July 27th, the transfer window still has nearly a month left to run its course before it slams shut, with the final day for Premier League sides to sign and register new players Monday, Oct. 5th.
