Andy Robertson On Aston Villa Defeat: “At Times We Couldn’t Believe It”

You’re not the only one, Andy.

Here’s a little behind the scenes info about the way things tick here at TLO Towers: I am responsible for the match recaps for every Saturday fixture. So it was not me, but my buddy Audun who covered Sunday’s disastrous match against Aston Villa. I have never been happier to let someone take a bullet for me than I was on Sunday when I had the luxury of muting this car wreck of a game. Sorry not sorry, Audun.

Another person who couldn’t crawl under a blanket and pull up a book on his tablet was Andy Robertson, who had to play every excruciating minute of it.

The left-back came off the pitch just as confused and horrified as the rest of us.

“At times we couldn’t believe it, to be honest,” he admitted. “We weren’t good enough. We never won our second balls, we never won our challenges, we never scored from the chances we did create in the first half, because we did have a few. Then we end up with a result like this.

“They took pretty much every chance they’ve had and all credit goes to Aston Villa, unfortunately. They were better than us. Every competition on the pitch they won and when that happens you’re never going to win a game of football. That result as a Liverpool player is embarrassing.”

It’s not a great way to go into the international break. However, on the other hand, it might take that two weeks for us all to be ready to watch Liverpool play again.
