LIVERPOOL VS. FULHAM

Liverpool welcome Fulham to Anfield to begin a long and jam-packed December. Jürgen Klopp’s men are looking to prolong their home win record against the Cottagers. Liverpool are making a quick turnaround from their 4-0 defeat of LASK in the Europa League to clinch their group on Thursday. Thankfully, the game was at home so at least there is no travel involved.

Last week, they fought to a well-earned draw against Manchester City that left them in third place. Three points will keep them competitive at the top with City and current league leaders, Arsenal.

Fulham got very lucky last week, pulling out a 3-2 victory against Wolves after some of the usual amateur refereeing mistakes that have plagued this season. However, they come to Anfield winless in their last six away matches.

Liverpool will have to do without both Alisson and Diogo Jota, both of whom went down last weekend against City. Caoimhin Kelleher will replace Alisson in goal while Klopp will make due with some combination of Cody Gakpo, Darwin Núñez, Luis Díaz, and Mohamed Salah up front in place of Jota.

Predicted Liverpool Lineup (4-3-3)

Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Jones; Salah, Núñez, Díaz

In addition to the aforementioned Alisson and Jota, the Reds are also down left-back Andy Robertson and midfielders Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister should start in the midfield, with Curtis Jones their likely third.

As for Fulham, they’ll be without Issa Diop, Adama Traore, and Rodrigo Muniz.

What the Managers Had to Say

Jurgen Klopp: “We didn’t do the analysis [meeting] yet but I saw the last game and what I saw was very creative set-pieces, like really creative. A lot of short ones. And we have to make sure we use the few moments we have to prepare that properly.”

Marco Silva: “It’s always really tough to play at Anfield. The quality they have, the manager they have, the crowd is going to push them – they are three really important factors that can make things really difficult for us. They have started really well at home. They have been impressive, they have been perfect at home until now.”

The Officials

Referee: Stuart Attwell. Assistants: Richard West, James Mainwaring. Fourth official: Tim Robinson. VAR: Paul Tierney. Assistant VAR: Adam Nunn.
