Injury Update: Szoboszlai Out for Arsenal
The Hungarian came off during the second half against Newcastle
Dominik Szoboszlai was withdrawn clutching his hamstring during the second half of Liverpool’s league match against Newcastle this week, and Jürgen Klopp has confirmed the midfielder’s injury ahead of the weekend’s FA Cup tie at the Emirates.
“I can confirm it’s not a potential injury – it is an injury. Muscle, hamstring. But now we have to see. Dom is very positive, doesn’t have a lot of pain but we have to wait a little bit. So, no chance obviously for Sunday, not for Wednesday. No. And then we will see, after that hopefully he might be back but we don’t know.”
We know, then, that Liverpool will be without Szoboszlai for at least two matches: Sunday in the FA Cup against Arsenal, and Wednesday in the League Cup against Fulham.
Szoboszlai has been an important performer for Liverpool this season, and the boss will hope he’s back to full fitness soon as the Reds cope with absences due to international competitions this month.
There are no other fresh injury conerns, with the Reds keeping an eye on long-term absentees as they work their way back to fitness.
