Adrien Rabiot is currently out of contract and being linked with Liverpool because he’s always being linked with Liverpool.

Liverpool are targeting French International midfielder Adrien Rabiot. That’s the story at least out of the French press this week. And if you feel like it’s a story you’ve heard before as a Liverpool fan, that’s because you have.

Rabiot has been linked with Liverpool every summer transfer window—and sometimes in January as well—since well before covid, back to the days when he was playing for PSG, a club he eventually left in summer of 2019.

And every summer, the links have added up to nothing with any journalist with even the remotest ties to the club saying it’s nothing but transfer chatter encouraged by the player and his agent, his mother Veronique Rabiot.

So what could possibly make this summer different? Well, this summer he’s 29 years old rather than 22 or 23 as when he first started getting linked. He’s also currently without a club after rejecting a new deal with Juventus.

He was also heavily linked with a move to Manchester United earlier in the summer—and at the time the player’s representatives put stories out into the press that he was rejecting Liverpool to sign on with their historic rivals.

But hey, sure, maybe this is the summer where he actually ends up signing for Liverpool. Or at least maybe signs with a club in Liverpool. I mean, we wouldn’t bet on it but you never know, Everton might always be interested.
