Liverpool have decided the best place for Bajcetic to get on track after a season out injured is Pep Lijnders’ Salzburg.

Young Stefan Bajcetic was tipped for greatness at Liverpool when he broke into the first team in 2022-23, with the Spanish youth international making 19 first team appearances and seemingly firmly establishing himself first team player.

Then, injury struck. An adductor injury in March of that season ruled him out for the end of the season and a slow recovery meant he missed almost the entirety of the next season, in the end making just three appearances by the end of 2023-24.

Now in need of playing time—playing time he may struggle to get with the Reds—to return to his pre-injury best, there has been talk of a loan. Most often, Spain has been mooted as an option. Instead, it appears he is heading to Austria.

According to multiple reports, RB Salzburg and a reunion for the player with former Liverpool assistant and now Salzburg manager Pepijn Lijnders is seen as the best possible option for getting Bajcetic’s development back on track.

While many Liverpool fans might feel disappointment at the player’s temporary departure, having missed a year of football it’s hard to argue that regular playing time under a manager like Lijnders wouldn’t be good for the 19-year-old.
