Young Liverpool striker Jayden Danns has been a promising talent on the fringes of the first team for a few seasons now, but the 20-year-old faced a significant setback when he suffered a hamstring injury while playing with the U21s against Ipswich Town in September.

In the five months since, the focus has been on recovery, but Danns took a major step this week when the Liverpool-born prospect returned to train with teammates for the first time, putting in the first minutes of his return with his U21 teammates at the AXA Training Centre.

Before his injury, Danns had seen his first senior minutes of the season—and his tenth senior Liverpool appearance overall—in a League Cup appearance against Southampton. Expectations had been for the player to at least be around the first team in the 2025-26 season.

Losing the better part of the season at a potentially crucial stage in his development will have been a major blow, but hopefully Danns can build up strength and match fitness with the U21s over the remainder of the year with an eye to an impactful 2026-27 campaign.
