Danny Ings Is Expected To Start Against Everton

Jürgen Klopp all but assured that Danny Ings would be in the starting eleven on Saturday at Goodison Park.

The second leg of the Champions League quarter-final is the top priority for Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool team. The Reds are up 3-0 on Manchester City and will have to see it out at the Etihad Stadium to progress into the semi-finals of the competition. But first there’s the small matter of playing Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday. And the Merseyside derby is also a match to be reckoned with.

Unfortunately, Klopp has some injury issues to deal with among his ranks as well as a UEFA suspension for Jordan Henderson and may have to find some clever solutions here and there on his next couple of team sheets.

Mohamed Salah’s situation is perhaps the most ambiguous. The Egyptian attacker left the match against City after feeling something in his groin but the response from the player and the club seems to be positive. Still, it’s not clear whether or not Salah will be available at the weekend or indeed if he should be involved against Everton at all.

The same goes for Roberto Firmino who, fit as a fiddle as always, isn’t unavailable but is absolutely necessary for the trip to Manchester on Tuesday. Klopp could choose to go with Danny Ings up top at Everton, giving Firmino a rest and allowing the hard-working ex-Burnley man his first start under the German manager.

Klopp was visibly happy to discuss Ings in today’s presser and the player’s expected inclusion in the weekend team.

“Thank god, Danny is here and in good shape,” Klopp said.

“I would not guarantee it but it doesn’t look too bad that he could start tomorrow.”

So, there you have it. Ings to score a hat-trick against the Toffees.
