Burnley unlikely to sign Danny Ings

Burnley are unlikely to sign former striker Danny Ings who is in search of a a new club, according to The Mirror.

Ings has made his intentions clear that he wants a move away from Liverpool due to lack of minutes on the pitch. Jurgen Klopp would like Ings to stay, but the forward believes he needs a move to rejuvenate his career after two major injuries stalled his progress on Merseyside since his arrival in 2015.

The Englishman feels that minutes on the pitch will be too hard to come by with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino around the squad.

Burnley were reportedly interested in re-signing Ings, who left the club for Liverpool in 2015, but the Clarets are looking elsewhere as Sean Dyche’s main focus is to bring Jay Rodriguez back to Turf Moor.

Crystal Palace are leading the race to sign the 25-year-old, according to The Mirror.

Ings only managed 25 appearances for Liverpool during his time at the club.

Ings scored the last goal of the Brendan Rodgers era in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park in 2015. His last goal for the club came in the final stages of the recent Premier League season against West Bromwich Albion.
