Emre Can Reportedly Agrees Four-Year Juventus Deal (For Real This Time)

We might actually be nearing the end of the Emre Can transfer marathon.

Emre Can has been working towards his Juventus move since last summer when, with a year to go on his Liverpool contract, he made it clear he wouldn’t be signing an extension to stick around at Anfield and instead preferred the idea of a Serie A move.

And ever since January, at which point he was free to sign a pre-contract with Juventus, we’ve been cycling through the same boring, interchangeable story cycle. First he’s about to sign then he’s considering options then Juventus are getting impatient.

Every week seemed to start with a report in Italy saying that, by Friday, he’d agree a deal. And by Friday he always hadn’t signed and often there were new reports of him considering Spain or Germany or even staying in England. Well, that all looks to be over.

At least assuming a claim today from Sky Italia that he actually, for real this time, has agreed a four-year deal with Juventus and will fly to Italy now to undergo a medical and complete his move. Mostly, we’re relieved that we might not have to talk about it any more.

Assuming, of course, it’s actually true this time around. Because last week there was plenty of talk early about Can agreeing a deal and heading to Italy to undergo a medical, with multiple deadlines set and passed and nothing official ever being announced.

It’s probably the best sourced and most specific report of a done deal yet, and so just maybe this gruelling and increasingly annoying transfer marathon is actually about to be over. But at this point we won’t be certain until Can is officially announced.
