Liverpool bookies’ favourites to sign Heung-min Son

Liverpool have been tipped to pull off an audacious move for Tottenham Hotspur ace Heung-min Son by the bookies.

The Reds’ supposed interest emerged on Wednesday, when German publication Sport1 listed Jurgen Klopp’s side as one of many interested parties.

And now BetStars have Liverpool listed as 11/8 favourites to sign the South Korean, who has two years left on his Spurs contract.

Tottenham would, of course, be reluctant to offload the versatile forward to a rival, but a big-money offer could force them to the negotiating table.

Son was excellent last season, registering 18 goals and 11 assists in 53 appearances, and has shone on the global stage this summer with two strikes at the World Cup, including the goal which confirmed the elimination of holders Germany.

Liverpool are eager to significantly bolster their squad depth in this transfer window, and Son is capable of playing on either flank, through the middle and, owing to this flexibility, could likely slot into the midfield three.

The Reds will face competition if they step-up their reported interest, however, with Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United also identified as possible suitors.

It remains to be seen whether the foundations for the rumour are solid.
