Liverpool lead the race to sign Alisson

Liverpool are in pole position to sign Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson after talks with his agent, according to Il Tempo, as cited by Sport Witness.

The report states that Alisson’s agent is in talks with Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

At this moment, Liverpool have submitted no formal bid, as Roma are desperate to keep hold of their prized asset.

Alisson last season had a strong campaign for Roma which included 17 clean sheets in 28 Serie A appearances.

Alisson is preparing for the upcoming World Cup in Russia and will be Brazil’s No. 1 throughout the tournament.

The goalkeeper featured in Brazil’s 3-0 win over Austria in their final friendly yesterday, and he said to the media following the match that his main focus at this moment is performing well for his country.

“I think everything will be resolved before the start of the World Cup, that’s what I want. The truth is that I left everything in the hands of my agent. If everything is not resolved, it will be discussed after the World Cup,” said Alisson.

“Right now, I’m focused only on the World Cup. There are some possibilities and we are working on all of them, together with Roma, always respecting the club. We’ll see if anything happens this week.”

Liverpool are in for a new goalkeeper as they try to replace Loris Karius after his Champions League final display against Real Madrid in Kiev.
