Liverpool to avoid Max Meyer due to wage demands

Liverpool won’t pursue Max Meyer this summer due to his high wage demands, according to BILD.

Meyer has been a long-term target for the Reds, but despite being available on a free transfer this summer, his wage demands (€3m-€5m) are too great.

Meyer is currently in talks with Marseille after it has been reported that Meyer has had a falling out with his manager at Schalke, Domenico Tedesco.

Jurgen Klopp has reportedly admired the player for a number of years, and there was speculation when he was expected to leave on a free transfer this summer, but Liverpool will not pursue the German international.

Other clubs such as Atletico Madrid, Arsenal and Fenerbahce have had interest in Meyer, but he looks set to move to France as they cannot match his wage demands, just like Liverpool couldn’t.
