Klopp believes West Brom loan has helped Sturridge

Jurgen Klopp believes that Daniel Sturridge has been aided from his loan spell at West Bromwich Albion, which occurred when the January transfer window last came around.

Sturridge’s Liverpool career looked finished when the Englishman was sent out to The Hawthorns, as there was talk he was going to be sold in the summer that just went, but that did not occur.

Sturridge currently has four goals for the Reds this season, the most recent being a cracking equaliser at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea.

Despite the fact Sturridge only made six appearances for West Bromwich Albion without scoring, Klopp is adamant the loan spell freshened the forward up.

“Daniel has always been in my thoughts, but he was never able to prove it,” Klopp said.

“We thought West Brom was a good idea for him to get minutes under his belt again, and when he came back, he was an option for us.

“It has paid off for him, it’s nice and absolutely deserved.”
