Adrien Rabiot set to stay at PSG amid Liverpool interest

Adrien Rabiot will reject the chance to join a number of European clubs vying for his signature when he signs a new deal with Paris Saint-Germain this week, according to the Express.

The young French midfielder appeared to be on his way out of PSG in one of the next two transfer windows, but it appears he is now set to remain in Paris with his current club.

The news will come as a blow to the clubs interested in signing him, including Liverpool, Tottenham and Barcelona, all of whom were rumoured to be readying a move for the 23-year-old.

Rabiot was reportedly dissatisfied with his playing time at PSG and had been locked in contract negotiations for months with the French giants.

But now, it seems a deal will soon be concluded which will keep him at the club for the foreseeable future.

Julien Laurens, a French football journalist, revealed that Liverpool have held talks with Rabiot’s representatives about a move.

“I think it was quite positive,” Laurens said.

“I don’t think it’s the first time Rabiot’s men have talked with people from the club.

“The interest from Klopp is even pre-Liverpool and Liverpool, since Klopp have always been there.”

PSG manager Thomas Tuchel was outspoken about Rabiot.

“I really like Adrien, really, I appreciate him,” he said.

“There was a difficult situation after the World Cup that he missed but Adrien has showed incredible willingness from the first day of training.

“He has never missed a training session, not a single thing — we can really trust him and count on him.

“I love working with Adrien and I have no influence over the rest.”

Liverpool and the host of other clubs chasing Rabiot’s signature will now have to turn their attentions elsewhere.
