Unai Emery believes Liverpool can end Premier League season unbeaten

Unai Emery believes Liverpool can match Arsene Wenger’s invincible side from 2003/04 and end the current Premier League season unbeaten after making it 19 games without defeat against Newcastle on Wednesday.

Rafa Benitez’s side came to Anfield on Wednesday and were swept aside as the Reds strolled to a 4-0 win, keeping their 12th clean sheet of the season.

With Arsenal visiting Anfield on Saturday, Unai Emery was asked if Liverpool can emulate the Gunners side from 2003/04 and go unbeaten for an entire Premier League season.

Emery told reporters: “At the moment they are doing and they can do it. They are doing it at the moment.

“We played three years ago in the Europa League final with Sevilla against Liverpool and we beat them.

“But look at the process and it’s a very good example for us. The progression is clear: they were out of the Champions League and they are an example for us at Arsenal now. We need to be demanding of ourselves but we need time and patience is very important.”
