Liverpool rivals concede defeat in the Premier League title race

Mauricio Pochettino has conceded defeat in the Premier League title race after Tottenham were beaten by Chelsea.

The North London outfit has been snapping at the heels of Liverpool and Manchester City all season but have failed to mortally wound them and are now eight points behind second-placed City with 10 games to go this season.

It is clear that the title race is now between Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola’s sides and this is something that Pochettino has freely admitted.

Poch said: “After tonight I think it is going to be impossible to be contenders and to fight against Liverpool and Manchester City. Both teams now, it is only them who can win the league.

“We need to be sure to win games and try to fight to be third. That is the challenge today for us.”

Liverpool’s next test in the Premier League comes away from home across Stanely Park against Everton and with their bitter city rivals desperate for them to not win the league, it should be a fiercely fought Merseyside Derby.
