Rumor Mongering: Liverpool Make Contact With RB Leipzig About Timo Werner
A German newspaper has reported that Liverpool asked Leipzig for updates concerning Werner’s contract situation.
We’re in the middle of a historic title race, I know, but transfer rumours are still out there and they will not be upstaged but something as silly as the actual football. No, the leaky pipes drip on, majestic in the muck they create.
Timo Werner should be seeing his name in a fair bit of copy presently given that it’s been rumoured Liverpool made contact with RB Leipzig about the German striker. SportBild in Germany, for one reason or another, decided to announce that Liverpool’s people were said to have told Leipzig’s people they wanted to be kept abreast of all things Timo.
The Leipzig forward is a promising young talent who is in a fantastic position to step up to the next level. Werner’s contract expires in 2020 and Leipzig can make a lot of money by moving the player on a year early, this summer.
You’ve also no doubt read that Timo Werner has already signed some sort of pre-contract or whatever with Bayern Munich, well that could be true but it sure doesn’t sound good. So, let’s ignore it.
Leipzig coach Ralf Rangnick recently insisted that the club had received no contact from any other clubs regarding Timo but seemed resigned to losing the player at the end of the season.
“Clubs that want him will report in the summer and then we will find a fair, mutually agreed solution,” said Rangnick.
Only time will tell if there’s any fire causing this smoke. So, you might as well get out your binoculars and just wait and see.
