Liverpool hopes of signing midfielder dashed

Adrien Rabiot looks destined to move to Real Madrid in the summer, ending Liverpool hopes of signing him, according to the Mirror.

The talented French midfielder hasn’t played for PSG since December after failing to agree a new contract at the club.

Jurgen Klopp had reportedly been monitoring Rabiot’s situation, with a free transfer to Liverpool on the cards at one stage.

But it now appears as though the 23-year-old has his heart set on working under Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu.

Zidane is in the process of rebuilding his Madrid side after a dismal season, and is looking for a replacement for Luka Modric, with Rabiot seen as the ideal candidate.

Klopp will have to look elsewhere over the coming months if he’s intent on bolstering Liverpool’s midfield options in the summer.
