Pundits call on Liverpool to sign Christian Eriksen this summer

Former Everton star Gary Stevens and former Liverpool academy player Dominic Matteo believe Liverpool should sign Christian Eriksen in the summer.

The Dane has been in good form for Tottenham this season and has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid as a result.

However, Stevens and Matteo both believe the Reds should move for the creative midfielder as soon as possible.

“I think that Liverpool need to sign a player that will get into any side,” Stevens said.

“I think Christian Eriksen – not that I want Spurs to lose Christian Eriksen – I think he would be the type of player who would be brilliant for Liverpool Football Club.

“He creates things, he makes things happen, he gets on the ball, and he scores goals.”

Matteo added: “That type of player for me would definitely suit Liverpool.

“Because you’ve got [Georginio] Wijnaldum, the workhorse, Fabinho the workhorse for the future.

“A little creator, like Eriksen, just in that pocket, just to thread those balls through.”

Eriksen joined Tottenham in 2013 for £12.5m and it’s unlikely that Spurs would let him leave for anything less than an astronomical fee, though he’s yet to sign a new contract.
