Liverpool FC Women to Face Everton at Anfield in November

Liverpool. Everton. At Anfield. As it should be.
Despite talk of two teams, one club and a smattering of visible gestures like bringing them along with the men on this past summer’s pre-season tour, it’s fair to say that Liverpool have too often failed to give their women’s team the resources to succeed.
While other clubs are investing in that side of the game, Liverpool have let their women’s team regress, and any good news has been infrequent. Today, though, there’s something good to report, with the club announcing an upcoming fixture at Anfield.
When the Reds face Everton in the Women’s Super League on Sunday, November 17th, the match will be played in front of the Kop—and with tickets on sale for just £5 or free to men’s season ticket holders, hopefully it will be full Kop for this WSL derby match.
It should also help that, whether it was done with any forethought or not, the Everton match is set for November’s international break for the men, thereby avoiding the sort of fixture clashes that have too often made it difficult for the women to gain traction.
Currently, Liverpool are off to a difficult start in the WSL, having lost three of their opening four games while Everton—who have shown more willingness to invest in recent seasons than their red local rivals—are five points ahead of them in the table.
