Aston Villa 7, Liverpool 2: Man Of The Match

After getting shellacked by Aston Villa, we want you to rate your man of the match.

Well that was just farcical. Between poor play, a trio of deflected goals, and some dubious refereeing, this game got out of hand quickly. There were not many bright spots in the Liverpool side today, but there were some glimmers of hope. Mohamed Salah scored a brace with two very well taken goals. He was unlucky not to have earned a penalty after getting blocked off them ball early in the first half. Andrew Robertson was a constant threat down the left flank, and he combined well with Diogo Jota. Speaking of Jota, the Portuguese player did an admirable job stepping in for Sadio Mane. Jota was heavily involved with the Liverpool attack, especially in the first half.

With our favored polling tool out of service, we’re instead giving you a choice between a few of the players we thought looked best today for the Reds, so make your choice below and vote for who you think should be the man of the match—or take to the comments to let us know that we got it wrong by leaving the real man of the match off the list entirely.

As always, anyone visiting on Apple News or Google AMP who wish to vote and can’t see the poll can make it visible by navigating to the front page of The Liverpool Offside and re-entering the story.
