Pre-Match

No Alisson Becker, Sadio Mané or Thiago for Liverpool, with the former hurting his shoulder in training and the latter two self-quarantining with the coronavirus. Aston Villa pick an attacking line-up, including new signing Ollie Watkins.

First Half

Goal. 1-0 to Villa as Adrian continues where he left off last season, handing Villa a free goal with an atrocious pass past Joe Gomez and into the feet of Jack Grealish. The winger finds Ollie Watkins who tuck home from close range

Nearly 2-0 as trent completely misjudges a long ball allowing Grealish to drive into the box and no midfielders track the run of Barkley. The former Everton man mishits his shot past the post however.

The Reds make their first foray into the Villa box and go close, with Naby and Robbo having shots blocked. Then another close call as Jota plays Robbo in down the channel but the flat ball across the six yard box is cleared for a corner.

Bobby played in by Mo but outside the boot shot from close range saved by GK, Salah then hacked down in the box but Atkinson shockingly calls no penalty.

Another huge chance as the press forces a passing error but Bobby cant make his mind up and it ends with two blocked shots. Bobby then skins his man and leathers one but the GK gets a hand up to make a save at the near post

Goal. 2-0 as Watkins cuts inside a flat-footed Gomez and hammers an effort into the top corner.

Big chance for Barkley again as Villa break, and switch to Grealish on the flank. Again no midfielders track the single runner into the box.

GOAL! 2-1! Salah pulls one back after the reds break and jota finds the egyptian at the back post following some ping pong in the box

Huge chance for Barkley yet again as he gets down the right hand channel but Adrian saves at his near post.

Goal. 3-1 from McGinn on the ensuing corner as a long shot takes a huge deflection off van Dijk and bobbles into the corner.

Goal. 4-1. A Watkins hat-trick as a free kick to Grealish is cut back across goal and smashed home at the back post. looked like it should’ve been called back for offside but nothing given.

Salah finds Robbo at the back post but his shot is hit straight at the goalkeeper who makes his fifth save of the half.

Second Half

Goal. 5-1. Barkley bends one into the far corner via a huge deflection off Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Goal. 5-2. Bobby threads it through for Mo who thumps it in at the near post.

Goal. 6-2. Grealish cuts inside and blasts it into the near corner after another huge deflection off Fabinho.

Goal. 7-2. A simple through ball for Grealish who tucks it in at the near post one on one with Adrian.

Villa hit the crossbar as a deep cross finds a streaking Marvelous Nakamba all alone in front of the goal.

Final Thoughts

Easily the most bonkers thing I’ve ever seen on a football pitch. That is all.
