According to reports out of France, the Reds could be ready to splash considerable cash for 18-year-old Leny Yoro.

According to reports from frequent rumor mongerer, the French publication Le 10 Sport, Liverpool are one of a handful of English sides, Manchesters City and United included, in for 18-year-old Lille center back Leny Yoro.

The young defender has played in 16 of Lille’s 17 league matches thus far, starting in 15, and contributing two goals along the way. He also played in half of their Europa Conference League Group Stage matches, in which Lille easily topped their group and qualified for the knockouts.

The report also states that Lille are expecting a fee of €70-90 million (~£60-77 million), so unless the player has an as of yet undisclosed release clause, this could get pricy for any club wanting to win Yoro’s signature.

Although it seems unlikely that Liverpool are prepared to splash the cash in January, if they were in for any position, center back would probably be it. With Joel Matip now out for the season, and likely done at Liverpool, the Reds will want to bring in another high caliber center back.

However, the Reds will already be relying heavily on 20-year-old Jarell Quansah (certainly far more than expected in preseason), so bringing an even younger center back in, especially for such a sizeable fee, seems unlikely.
