Gomez has yet to return to training

Joe Gomez found himself forced off the pitch with injury back in February against Plymouth Argyle, but could return before the 2024/25 season comes to a close.

Speaking to press ahead of Liverpool’s match with Tottenham this weekend, head coach Arne Slot moved away from the match’s title implications to provide great news about the English defender:

“If his recovery goes well, he would be able to [play] maybe in the last one or two games of the season, but he is still not training with us yet. But he is coming closer and closer to train with the team.

“But then he’s been out for a long time. We were just discussing Conor Bradley – it took him a while before he could even come in or have a long start.

“I think he [Gomez] will be available in the last one, two or three games if his recovery goes the way as planned.”

Slot has tended to be cautious with returns from injury, but Gomez will nonetheless hope the season-end doesn’t come too soon for him after his disappointing and lengthy absence.
