Joe Gomez expected to be fit for crucial PSG trip
Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on the fitness of 21-year-old Joe Gomez after he missed the 3-0 win at Watford on Saturday afternoon.
Gomez – who has been Virgil Van Dijk’s regular partner at the back this season – sat on the sidelines as the Reds’ travelled to Vicarage Road, having taken a knock to his foot in training on Friday.
Dejan Lovren stepped in to replace the England international, with Klopp choosing to trust the strength in depth in his side rather than attempt to force Gomez to play through the pain.
His decision went essentially without judgement as Liverpool kept a clean sheet on the road and left with all three points.

The normal one has now revealed he expects Gomez to be fit for the Reds’ blockbuster tie with Paris Saint Germain on Wednesday evening.
Speaking after 3-0 victory over Watford, Klopp said: “In the last second of yesterday’s session he had a little knock.
“We thought we’d bring him and have a look at him in the morning. He was 80% better, and that’s good. So he’s no doubt for Wednesday.
“But we have Trent and Dejan at 100% and we don’t have to make that decision.
“It’s clear he can be rested and recover and be ready for Wednesday.”
Gomez has appeared 15 times for Liverpool so far this season, keeping eight clean sheets in the process, and picking up only one yellow card.
Liverpool can confirm their progression from Champions League Group C with victory against the French giants on Wednesday night.
