Jurgen Klopp refuses to rule out a new contract for Daniel Sturridge

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has refused to rule out handing a new contract to England forward Daniel Sturridge.

The German was quizzed on the subject of Sturridge’s amidst reported interest from a host of clubs, including Sevilla, Valencia, Monaco, AC Milan and Inter, plus clubs in the Chinese Super League.

Sturridge’s future at Anfield was up in the air this time last season when he moved to West Bromwich Albion on loan, and featured sparingly as the Baggies were relegated.

Liverpool were expected to cash in on the forward upon his return to Anfield in the summer, with his deal only having 12 left to run.

Sturridge was determined to find his place amongst the team once again, however, and remained at the club over the summer.

Since the start of the season, he’s scored four goals and assisted one more, winning Standard Chartered Player of the Month for September.

Despite making mostly substitute appearances, Sturridge’s reemergence as a threat for Liverpool has put him back in Klopp’s thinking for a new deal, and he’s refused to rule out extending the forward’s stay beyond the end of this season.

Klopp said: “We don’t talk about things like that. Nothing to say. As long as the boys are here then anything is possible.”
