Everton Boss Marco Silva: Blues Want To Win Against Manchester City

Sure.

Liverpool fans are already resigned to the fact that they’ll go into Saturday’s clash against Bournemouth in second place on goal differential (with one game in hand). Suffice it to say that we don’t expect Everton to put up much of a fight against Manchester City, not even for their own self pride.

However, Everton’s boss Marco Silva insists that his side won’t just roll over to have their bellies rubbed by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

“My feeling is not on the title race or for us to look to that fight,” Silva said in his pre-match press conference.

“We know our fight, and for sure what our fans want for tomorrow is to win the game, that’s the most important thing.

“You are talking about one title and it’s not just two teams, I think more than two teams are fighting for this title. There are many games to play and nothing will be decided tomorrow.

“We look for ourselves and we will do everything we can. All the other fights aren’t for us to think about.”

Silva’s statement can only be interpreted in two ways. Either he’s just spouting typical coach-speak (blah blah blah, we try to win every game, blah blah) or he’s deeply delusional and completely out of touch with the supporters of Everton Football Club.

After all, this is the same fan base that angrily takes to Twitter if a manager or player has the audacity to have something red on their Christmas tree. If Silva truly thinks his fan base would be happy about a home win, on tonight of all nights, he has another thing coming. Everton Football Club is no longer one that strives to fulfil its own lofty ambitions, as much as one that is thrilled at the prospect of becoming spoilers for their cross-town foes.

Anyway, Everton should be getting to the business of losing against Manchester City without much of a fight at 7:45 GMT tonight.
