Fabian Delph will miss clash against Liverpool after red card on Boxing Day

Fabian Delph

Fabian Delph was shown a straight record for a reckless challenge on Leicester City’s Ricardo Perreira on Boxing Day and will miss the Premier League showdown against Liverpool on the 3rd of January.

Liverpool are top of the table by six points, seven ahead of City after the champions slumped to another defeat this month.

The Reds are flying at the moment and their defensive record shows how dominant they have been this season, only conceding seven goals in 19 games.

Delph was sent off at the end of City’s 2-1 defeat to Leicester, adding insult to injury as the Manchester side slumped to their third defeat of December.

He will now miss three games, Sunday’s clash against Southampton, the huge test against Liverpool and City’s FA Cup third-round game against Rotherham.

Guardiola will be forced to turn to either Danilo or Oleksandr Zinchenko. Whoever the Spaniard turns to will be right up against it to contain Mohamed Salah, who is in red-hot form this season.
